The first U.S.- based Master of Arts in Social and Cultural Pedagogy was approved by Arizona State University (ASU) in Phoenix, Arizona, USA.
2012
The first cohort of U.S.-based ASU MA/SCP students began classes.
2013
MA/SCP students created the Social and Cultural Pedagogy Graduate Organization (SCP-GO) to connect with each other, organize events, and represent the needs and interests of students to faculty.
2014
First cohort graduation. A need for a professional association began to present as graduates searched for career and academic opportunities.
2015
The Social Pedagogy Association (SPA) was founded to facilitate communication and connection between practitioners, educators, scholars and others interested in social pedagogy.
2016
Executive Committee and Founding Board members voted to host first SPA conference "Social Pedagogy and Social Education: Bridging traditions and innovations."
2018
2020
"Social Pedagogy and Education: Here and Now Online Conference" was held June 16 -18, 2020.
2021
"Social Pedagogy and Education 2021 Online Conference" will be held online, hosted by the University of Central Lancashire June 22 -24.
